In-Hospital Outcomes in Autogenous Vein Versus Synthetic Graft Interposition for Traumatic Arterial Injury: A Propensity-Matched Cohort From PROOVIT

چکیده

A retrospective review of the American Association for Surgery Trauma PROspective Observational Vascular Injury Treatment (AAST-PROOVIT) registry from November 2013 to January 2019. Of 460 patients 19 institutions, 402 were treated with autologous vein grafts (AVGs) and 58 prosthetic interposition (PGs) (45 polytetrafluorethylene grafts, 5 Dacron, 8 other). The PG group was more severely injured at admission gunshot wounds a higher mean Severity Score, lactate, transfusion requirements, along significantly lower systolic blood pressure, pH, hemoglobin. After propensity matching, 51 PGs matched 87 AVGs: rates reoperation, endovascular intervention, pseudoaneurysm, infection same, as hospital intensive care unit lengths stay. AAST-PROOVIT data demonstrated that used in critically ill patients. There no in-hospital difference rate repeat intervention or other outcomes between AVGs PGs.

Tracheostomy timing in traumatic brain injury: a propensity-matched cohort study.

BACKGROUND The optimal timing of tracheostomy in patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) is controversial; observational studies have been challenged through confounding by indication, and interventional studies have rarely enrolled patients with isolated TBI. METHODS We included a cohort of adults with isolated TBI who underwent tracheostomy within 1 of 135 participating centers in...

Clinical Outcomes of Minimally Invasive Versus Open TLIF: A Propensity-Matched Cohort Study.

In this study, we compare intermediate-term outcomes in minimally invasive surgical transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS TLIF) to open TLIF. Sixty-four patients who underwent 1- to 2-level MIS TLIF with baseline, 1-, and 2-year outcome measures were identified. These were propensity-matched to a cohort of open TLIF patients based on age, body mass index, sex, smoking status, workers' com...

Total arterial revascularisation: effect of avoiding cardiopulmonary bypass on in-hospital mortality and morbidity in a propensity-matched cohort.

OBJECTIVE The combination of total arterial revascularisation and avoidance of cardiopulmonary bypass may provide additional benefits to patients receiving complete arterial grafting with cardiopulmonary bypass. We performed a propensity-matched cohort study of complete arterial off-pump and on-pump coronary surgery and examined differences in in-hospital mortality and morbidity. METHODS Thre...

Renal outcomes associated with invasive versus conservative management of acute coronary syndrome: propensity matched cohort study

OBJECTIVES To examine the association of early invasive management of acute coronary syndrome with adverse renal outcomes and survival, and to determine whether the risks or benefits of early invasive management differ in people with pre-existing chronic kidney disease. DESIGN Propensity score matched cohort study. SETTING Acute care hospitals in Alberta, Canada, 2004-09. PARTICIPANTS 10,...

Long-Term Outcomes of the Ross Procedure Versus Mechanical Aortic Valve Replacement: Propensity-Matched Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND The ideal aortic valve substitute in young and middle-aged adults remains unknown. We sought to compare the long-term outcomes of patients undergoing the Ross procedure and those receiving a mechanical aortic valve replacement (AVR). METHODS From 1990 to 2014, 258 patients underwent a Ross procedure and 1444 had a mechanical AVR at a single institution. Patients were matched into 2...
